# Skills

Skills are reusable knowledge modules that extend the capabilities of AI agents by providing **domain-specific context, specialized guidance, and structured procedural knowledge**. Written in Markdown, Skills serve as reference material that agents can use while processing requests, helping them produce responses that are more accurate, consistent, and aligned with organizational requirements.

A Skill can contain information such as:

* Standard operating procedures
* Step-by-step troubleshooting guidance
* Response and output templates

Skills are managed at the prompt level. Each prompt can have multiple skills attached simultaneously, and any Agent or Deep Agent node that references that prompt inherits all of its active skills automatically.

#### Why Skills Matter

Without Skills, an **Agent** or **Deep Agent** relies primarily on its base prompt and the capabilities of the underlying language model. This may be sufficient for general-purpose tasks, but it can be limiting when the agent must operate within organization-specific, procedural, or domain-specific requirements.

When a Skill is attached to a prompt, its content becomes available to every **Agent or Deep Agent node** that references that prompt. The agent can use this information when interpreting requests and generating responses.

Using Skills helps improve response consistency, strengthen adherence to documented procedures, and reduce reliance on general model knowledge for domain-specific tasks.
